Iaido

Iaido

Many club members practice Iaido and are affiliated with the All US Kendo Federation. Most are either students of Harry Dach sensei who holds a godan in iaido from the All Japan Kendo Federation (ZNKR), or from Dach Sensei's students, John Aquadro, Rich Babin, Mark Chivalier or Don Crittenden all of whom hold AUSKF rank.

Dach sensei was a student of Nakagaki Takeshi sensei of Iwakuni, a three-time all Japan iaido champion who was himself a student of Kamimoto Eiichi sensei, hanshi and kyudan, and a member of the committee that established the ZNKR seitei kata in 1968.  Kamimoto was mentored by Nakayama Hykudo sensei, the preemenent swordsman of the Taisho and Showa eras, who is considered the father of muso shinden ryu iaido and was insturmental in the development of Toyama ryu battodo.  Thus, through Dach sensei, the members enjoy an uninterupted transmission of muso shinen ryu iaido from its founder.
